Went out yesterday between 10:30-1:30 on a beautiful sunny day.  Unfortunately I came up empty.  I tried Weedwalker's spot and couple others without a hit.  Water temp was around 45-46 fishing 35-50ft dragging tubes, grubs and dropshotting.  Still looking for my first winter bass.

Dennis Larsen and I were out there yesterday too!  What kind and color of boat were you driving?  Were you in the East Channel?  I have a Lund -  I think I watched you fish what we used to call the "gravel bar."  We were the guys you probably thought were trout or perch fishing out in the middle of the lake.

Won't tell you what we were doing out there, other to say I ended up with 5 smallies, a couple of squaw fish, and a couple of perch.  The largest was 4#-14oz.

We ended up having to drop shot - the fish were really down - belly in the mud and wouldn't take anything until we sat in one spot and just doodled the bait in front of them.

But the best part was the sunshine!   Couldn't get enough of it!  Gorgeous day!

Hit Washington again today with Rich Loth.  Real cold, moderate wind and no action....... Until......  Last 1 1/2 of the day pulled up on a spot and 4 fish in 30 minutes, ran to another spot that was similar and bam, 4lb smallie.  All total 5 smallies.  Weird thing was the size of two of them.  Both right a pound each.  Definitely the smallest fish I have ever caught  this time of the year.  Also had my first double hook up winter bass fishing.  I hooked into my 3rd fish when Rich started hollering about that I had somehow had hooked his line.  I'm up in the front saying , No I definitely have a fish....  Low and behold Rich starts reeling up and what do you know a nice 2.25lb smallie tugging on the end of his carolina rig.  His first winter time smallie.  Well done Rich.  Way to hang in there today on a tough weather day and stick you first winter smallie

Yes it was a good day.  Even though the ride was a little much for me, no spearing waves but a little rough.  I have been laid up for a while and didn't realize how physically FRAIL I was.  I will start doing some excercise from now on

I would like to apologise to everyone for missing the meeting.  I guess with Chuck's forgetfullness and my OLD age we should get a little slack.  Wink

Ex-Prez...  O-O-H-H-M-M-M ...  There now I feel better.

Gotfive...  Any fish  I get to the boat is a good one, But some are just better then others Wink

Mark, thanks for the day and the chance to rip some lips.

Rich

Hey Rich,
If the ride was getting a little rough, you should have kicked me. Grin Wink   I would have slow down.     I wish we could have made another pass or two on the last spot.  I know it holds more than 1 fish......  Thanks for the day and the company.  You are welcomed back anytime
