Well doing it by hand is the best way to put twist in the line. When put on by a line winder you are placing the line on level to the spool.
I don't know were you can find it for $250 I did see it for sale for $350-$375 but I didn't look that hard I got mine for $150 used There is one on Ebay for $175 plus shipping.
Rodney at some point you will have all the rods you need then what will you buy. As for me I have no problems with $150 cant even go to dinner & a movie for that. IMO for what we pay for  fluorocarbon & braid line the less twist I can put in it the less line I waste so it should pay for its self.
I can bring it to the meetings & let you guys spool up if you want I did a few reels yesterday &  its awesome.

Jon,

Just messing with you dude. It all depends on how one puts the line on to get twist. I rarely get line twist if any. Most good quality lines don't have that problem, but if buying cheap line thats another story.

I must go to different restaurants and movie theaters than you.  Undecided

As for line twist if I ever get any it usually seems to work itself out after the first trip out, but thats only with flouro, never had a problem with braid?

If properly spooled there is little to no line twist. The first step is to make sure that your line is coming off the filler spool in the same direction that it is going onto the reel spool. At the first sign of a twist flip the feeding spool over a complete turn 180 degrees. If you take your time when spooling up and follow this procedure line twist is non existant. By the way I do not charge anything for my input. So I saved you all $150 I will collect my fees at the poker table thank you!

Maybe not, but Ive thrown it under enough docks! Grin  I dont know why I have heard of guys having problems with it but I think I run 30lb power pro on my stradic and never have had a problem.  I know some guys run a lot heavier than that maybe that has something to do with it?

Joel,

I throw the same under docks. The thing I hate about braid is if it ever wraps around your rod you end up having to cut it cuz it nots up so easily.

Also when your flipping heavy brush it has a tendency to "dig in" like a drop shot weight and never come out. Thats why I throw copolymer or mono for this app.

Try this when you get line twist again.

Cut off any lures that you are using at the time. You don't want anything on your line when you are trying this. Next let all but a few yards off of your reel while you are SLOWLY cruising down the lake. The line, when it's behind your boat with nothing on it uncoils itself. Troll around for about 5 minutes or so then reel in and you are ready to go.
