ok, so what's up with the pike fishing in union bay?  i saw some pics from mid-late june...but nothing since.
would love to see a breeding pop develop.  would be fun and amusing to see all of those salmonid-centric seattle fishermen get spooled or loose all of their fancy expensive gear.
anyone hear anything on the pike situation lately?

btw-i was a witness to a 7.5 smallmouth caught on a nightcrawler at enitai park in bellevue.
also saw a 6lb CHANNEL CAT caught there back in july.

but if anyone's heard anything on the pike in lk wash, please do say so.

Is it possible that you're thinking of northern pikeminnow? AKA, squawfish?

I used to do a ton of fish work on Lake WA and have never seen a pike... although we did catch a walleye once.

I would HATE to see a breeding population of Northern Pike in Lk Wa.  That would be a step closer to F & W making some serious management changes to a wonderful all-around fishery.  Pike are terrific feeders and would give Hershel the sea lion a run for his money on smolt and salmon eating making all warmwater species the major reason for a decline in salmon fishing.

Fished Lake Washington Monday and picked up 4 smallies. Biggest was around 3.5lbs. They seemed fairly aggressive today. It was way better than work. Oh yeah they were in 41-52 feet of water.

Was out again today but only picked up 2. The biggest was a little over a pound. They were not as aggressive today as Monday. I lost 2 of them.

Monday they were hitting and holding the bait for a couple of seconds. Today they were just slapping at it. To catch the 2 I had to be a ninja! Same depth and bait as Monday. 40-52 feet. Closer to 52. I did notice that the North wind picked up later in the morning. I wise man ( The Rev ) once told me that North Wind on Washington = BAD

I did camera 2 nice fish on Pleasure Point but was not able to get them to bite. I thought one was going to eat the camera it got so close. It looked 10lbs in the camera!

Tried it today with little luck. Actually no luck. I don't count the 3-4lb trout I caught as a fish. Water temp was 44.4. I also got real cold fingers:)

Oh I forgot to tell you that I also left my transom saver on the motor when I launched the boat. I tell ya sometimes I shouldn't be allowed to leave the house.

Didn't realize it until I got back and put my boat on the trailer. Thought I had spun a prop.
