Big Fish Photography 101
  1. Tilt custom logo cap back so to avoid the distraction of promoting a product related to fishing.
  2. Face the light source to avoid shadows.
  3. Remove sunglasses.
  4. Be holding a real big fish.

Three out of four ain't bad, great fish Russ!!!!

So I know Russ took some crap for hooking this fish before the tournament but I left a decent fish on friday, definately not an 9lb but a 3-3.5 and tried to get it to go on about 4 different passes during the tournament with no luck.  Beings as im somewhat dissapointed for not catching that fish I cant imagine letting a 9 swim off.  Shocked  Nice fish Russ I was heading to the lake when you were leaving thursday afternoon.  I've caught some nice fish on that bank up to 6 but I guess I dont know where the secret 5 ft hole is. Huh

The odds were not in my favor of sticking that fish during the tournament whether I had caught her two days earlier or not. Too many variables - draw, weather change, etc, etc. I have stuck fish during practice and have caught them during tournament time with no ill effects to my pre-fish days whatsoever when the weather is good, stable, and conditions are just right.

I had found that even though we had a warming trend all week that the fish just didnt move up shallow as they had done in years past when the weather heats up. That lake has perplexed me these last 5-6 years and I just cant figure them out like I did before the carp got in there. It used to be so consistent, you flip to a log and get bit. i flipped to 50 logs and didnt touch a fish. I had two bites on saturday that I swung on but just didnt hook for some reason that were less than 50 yards from where I got the 9 earlier in the week. I fished this stretch for like 3 hours with no other hits.

Oh well thats why they call it fishing.

I'm with ya, Russ. That lake has become a mystery since the grass carp were planted. (well, for some of us, maybe not the Hankinsons of the world)

It used to be just like you said, flip a log, get a bite. And fish used to relate to lily pad edges a lot more. Personally, I think the decimation of weeds other than lily pads has changed a lot of the fishing dynamics. The real gold spots used to be the areas where a nice green weed patch was underneath lily pads, and then it was really money when two weeds were up against wood.

Ahhhh, the good old days. One of these days I'll adjust  Cheesy
