The April fish-in is April 2nd at Lake Cavanaugh. I'll post all the times and directions tomorrow. I left my printed copy of the newsletter at work.

I have made a decision to change the lake based on a couple factors. One of the members checked out the facilities and reported that it was very difficualt to get in and out on one of the roads. Supposedly it is a narrow logging road with sharp switchbacks. It may be hard to tow boats in. The other way into the lake makes the drive a lot longer. Plus we are unsure how good the fishing will be since no one could report if they have ever been there.

The lake will be moved to Lake Stevens. This lake is known as having huge smallies, but that they can be tough to catch. I have heard the best time is in the Spring when the skiiers are down. This should make the timing good for us. Launch and breakfast times will stay the same. Should be 0630 at the launch and 5-5:30 for breakfast. I will research an area around there for breakfast and post directions soon. There is a nice launch and parking area, but a fee. I think 5 bucks.

If you know somebody that doesn't check the website, please pass the word of the change. I don't want people to show up at the wrong lake. Sorry about the late change.

I will try to fish this lake and maybe it can be a choice later if I think it would be worth it.

Lake Stevens is located 5.5 miles east of Everett.
Boating/ Facilities

There is a WDFW access in the nearby town of Lake Stevens with a ramp, parking and toilets, plus a county park access off Davies Road with launch, parking, toilets and a fishing pier.
Lake Stevens Description

It has several small inlets and drains via Lake Stevens Creek to Little Pilchuk Creek and the Pilchuk River.
Available species include rainbow trout (best in fall-winter), largemouth bass, yellow perch, brown bullheads, cutthroat trout and smallmouth bass. Stevens is well-known for its large kokanee, especially during May through August, and has a generous kokanee limit. The fishing season here is open year-round. Disabled accessibility - Level 1 at county park. DP, WCT, WC docks, Blk Tpa.

You don't have to pay the $5 if you have a valid yellow sticker on the back of your tow vehicle.  Otherwise you have to pay.

Which reminds me, fishing licenses expire before the fish-in.  Make sure you have an '05 license!

Is that really info hijacking? It might be on his website, but I believe most of it comes from WDFW websites and a book series from 1965 called, "Lakes of Washington". All of that info is in my copy of it.
