Found this report on some Largemouth fishing in the sloughs near Vancouver, hopefully it can add some background to all of you fishing the Columbia Tournament.

"Subject: SLEW off the Columbia river, Washington
Submitted by EX-Bass Guide Roger <((((>< (ip 192.65.40.9)

Date Fished: 8/16/03
Water Temperature: ¿
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

I fished with Charlie Schiffman of Vancouver Saterday. He has been fishing a very nice back water area on the Columbia. The creek/slew was about 1/3 of a mile long and loaded with LOTS of bass. The bass were VERY happy to go after our bait of choice (3" Senco). We did not even see one other boat all the time we were out fishing. This was very refreshing! No jet skies, no skiers and no other fishing presure. Very quite except for the 2 trains that passed by. We had all the Bass totaly to ourselfs. I would say we landed about 55 bass. Charlie said if we would have fished the out going tide it would be outstanding. We started on the incoming tide and we fished laydown trees. The bass were holding on the down current side and they were stacked up in there big time. We did not get in to lots of big fish but we got about 10 keepers (14")(we did C&R all bass). The biggest bass was near three pounds. This area does have some very nice bass, And Charlie has some nice photos to prove that. In a couple weeks we will hit the S. M. Bass in the Columbia. Nice fish and nice fishing partner! See ya all on the water. Roger the EX-Bass guide"
