Congratulations to Mark and Carlos for a first place finish. They has 17+ lbs.

Also to Jim and Jose for a close 2nd place and Jose for Big Fish. He caught the biggest smallie I have ever seen - 6.68lb =6lb 11oz.

And to Lyle and Brian for third.

The fishing was tough, but several team scrapped their way to decent bags.

Congratulations to all the top dogs for cracking the code.
I was not planning on fishing this but last minute change let me seize the moment I just wish fishing was better.
This was my first full tourney & man did I learn a lot. I never have spent much time on WA this time of year & wow does the lake change from September.
The fog was worst I have ever been in but having my GPS the second day did help.
On the plus side I did find some new spots that I am sure will pay off in the future.
Next year I hope to have a real boat that's faster then Brian Walkers so I can beat him to my spots Tongue
Thanks to all the WWBC members who are always willing to make you feel welcome to the events.

i think this was the toughest bite of the year for our tournaments and we have had some tough bites.  i think alot of people were around fish but it was tough to get one to open their mouth let alone six of them.  great job mark and carlos.  that was also the biggest smallie i've seen in person, i wish i coulda seen them when they landed it  Shocked.  cant wait till next year!

Sounds like a tough bite.  Man...I hope it's not like that on Saturday.  I'm fishing the Open tournament.  My first tournament and the weather is supposed to be bad too. Sad

Yeah,
One could say it was a tough bite.  I seen only one good fish caught after the fog lifted both days.  ( Smallie that is )  For those that are fishing the Michelson, get to your good spots early and try to get your smallies then.  Have 3 or 4 known spots that have produced fish for you at this time of the year and keep rotating thru those spots early.  Carlos and I fished fast.  We would hit spot and stay for maybe 30 minutes tops.  Even if we caught some fish at these spots.  Its a matter of covering water and getting thru as many goods spots as possible and being there when a smallie or two was on the feed. Saturday we hit about 20 spots. Sunday we refined it down to about 8 spots and hit them multiple times. We fished our lures very slow, hopping the jig, not dragging it.  Short little hops.  Drag it a couple of inches and then another little hop.   Jose can confirm this is how he got his good fish also.  With the weather being bad in the up coming week, the smallie bite may last thru out the day, as opposed to just a morning only bite.  Just keep rotating thru your best spots.  The only other advice is to get to your best spot and camp on it all day, hopeing that enough fish will turn on throughout the day that you might get a good limit.  I can only think of 5 spots on Washington that I might do that.  Coleman point, Pleasure Point, Webster Point, 520 pilings, and Hunts point.
Best of luck to you guys fishing this upcoming weekend.  Do the club proud

Mark
