Glen,

Then I will have to use bigger lures for them to swallow if that is how I'm going to win.

Russ,
Just use Tungsten instead of lead. I mean it's kind of a no brainer. Tungsten is 30% smaller than lead. More weight with less space wasted.

But to the original topic It'll take 28lbs 5ozs to win the Columbia.

I think the weights will depend on current flow. If there isn't a lot of current I think the weights will be smaller. I don't think the winning weight will be as close as it was to Chelan which was 29-5. I am going to say 25-8

I'm going to say 29+ lbs---There are some monsters in the Columbia.    Someone should be able to put together a good sack of smallies with an occasional kicker largemouth to round out the bag each day

OR this scenario happens:

Brian Walker, Kirk Holmes, Russ Baker, Rocky Beemen SR., Dave Jarrell or someone else dedicated going after largemouth actually end up finding them in good numbers ....then game over.....it will be 30-35+

Bob,

Yea Bob I have seen many 36-40lb sacks out of that place quite commonly. My best one day sack had over 21lbs during a qualifier several years ago and I was only in the top 15. So its anybody's guess, lets hear it people.

Northwest took over 21lbs for one day. The wind was howling so they couldn't stay on their spot. But were catching quality largemouth. But that was then and this is now.

ABA NW Championships last weekend took 19.4 lbs for one day.
Weather and frontal passages will make all the difference in the world.

Well the last few BASS opens...one of the heaviest sacks was 17 and some change if I remember right. 15 pounds were good bags. There are a lot more boats in these events though. Some of the guys out of the ABA I talked to live by the river and put 150 days on it. I'm sure no one in Western Bass has that much experience. We are great anglers but think lack of time on this body of water will hurt us, especially if you ruin your lower unit  Grin. 12-13 pounds a day I think will be good. This is just my guess.

Rob,

Yes isn't that the truth I wish we had more time on that body of water. I haven't fished an event there in quite sometime-mid 90's, but as my last post read I have caught some nice bags there. Running it is normally a no brainer if you use common sense and no how to read channel bouys. I have had some close calls when not using my noodle. One day I cut to close to a buoy and almost launched my partner. But luckily my boat was on plane when I cut it close otherwise my partner would have looked like a missile.

Current can play a major role here, but if someone gets on largies and several bays have them.
