For those that are interested,

I know many of the club guys have fished the Potholes Open in the past and wanted to let you all know that it is scheduled for 15, 16, & 17th of April.

This is one if not the most fun cash tournies to fish in Washington. Its a team tourney format and the tourney usually doesn't start until 9:30 in the morning and you fish til 5-6:30, depending on the flight you are in. Normally three flights. Friday is open for practice.

Its a great event put on by some great folks. Whether you win or lose its a blast as many of our club members can attest to.

And has one of the largest Raffle's to boot.

  Likewise, I will be at Clear Lake on Apr 9-11th.  If you want, give me a hollow and I can do a little pre fish info for you guys....  After that I will be headed to Shasta to do some fishing.

Your question is answered as a "NO". The Open is an invite tourney only. However, having said that on most occasions you can get your name in the hat by contacting the people who run this event. I have given the names out to some people in this club, but unfortunately it didn't help. The event fills up in two days. So unfortunately most people who haven't fished this event in the past cannot get in unless they know someone from that club.

Actually there are several of us who fish it from the club-Ron Hankinson,Kirk Holmes, Myself,Jim Ruman, Mark Wells to name a few. Yes its tough to get in but worth the effort.

It would be cool to see Western put on a tourney like this.

Ah, you forget - I took big fish at that tournament.  And that fish was bigger than your trophy too!  


....matter of fact, now that I look at it on the wall, even trophy is bigger.
