Boat launch info

Is the launch on your favorite lake in a state of disrepair? Do you feel as though it will never get fixed?  Well, fret no more my friend.

Check out this handy site I discovered today.  It explains, in detail, all the ramp improvement projects - completed, in progress, and proposed.  It includes budget numbers and contact info for each project.

Just go to http://www.iac.wa.gov/maps/default.asp and click "Boating Facilities" under the "Interactive Maps" heading.

Pretty cool!

P.S. I discovered they're in the process of a major overhaul of the Big Lake boat launch (much needed!). I'm checking with the Program Manager to find out the schedule to see if it conflicts with our Fish-In this summer.

And Steve.... Palmer Lake is being fixed right now.  Smiley

Aw, Jeez. Palmer's launch wasn't broke. You just better have 4wd, huh? I'll probably just keep using the beach at the campground. Thanks for the link.

It looks like they ripped that grate thing from the Sawyer launch. It took out the side wall on one of trailer tires last year. That thing was a crankbait trap for the bank fisherman fishing around there. Glad to see that gone.

There will not be a conflict with the Big Lake fish-in, as construction isn't slated to begin until 2005.

That said, a few 4-wheel drives at the fish-in would be appreciated.  We might need them.

Steve - I discovered the Palmer Lake launch isn't slated for completion until spring of 2007.  According to the WDFW, it "is not behind schedule according to the Project Agreement."

Folks - I asked about the processes involved in launch repairs/upgrades, and exactly what does the "In Progress" status mean.  I think I got more information than I expected!  But nonetheless, a rather thorough explanation of the process (somewhat complex).

If everyone is interested, I can post the info here.  Just let me know.

As of May 14, 2004, neither launch at Palmer has been improved one iota. That keeps out the ski boats, so it's not all bad!
