I've never fished Crow Butte, but I've fished maryhill in Sept before and when the wind layed down the fishing was great fishing channel markers. Crow Butte looks awesome with all those sandbars on that section I can imagine there is lots of productive water. I love fishing the river I wish I made it over there more.

As part of a birthday weekend I went fishin with my old ABA partner Al Siebert near Crow Butte . The fishing was absolutely stupendous!!!! In about 6 hrs. we caught over 20 SMB with the smallest at 2 lbs.! Nothing over 4, but the fight these guys put on was just spectacular with a lot of head shaking going on . I never cease to be amazed at how hard these river Smallies fight, especially when the water starts to cool down in the fall. They were all caught between 16 and 20 ft. on green pumpkin baby brush hogs that had to have some sparkle flecks in them, didn't seem to matter what color of sparkle. Surprisingly, not a single take on any crankbaits despite the fact that they were puking big minnows & fry. Probably should have tried a 4" swimbait, but I was havin too much fun to change up.
