Thanks, Rev. Always used 24 inches as my benchmark but sometimes go deeper or shallower with it. I find that I like to have mine available to adjust under wind and wave condition. Nothing worse that the prop flying out of the water under power. I have broke and lost props completely when that has happened.

A little tip I picked up from a Bill Dance show this week: to determine the shaft length of the trolling motor that is right for your boat, measure the distance from the top of your bow to the water's surface and add 22 inches. Thought someone might be interested...
