Thanks, Rev.  Always used 24 inches as my benchmark but sometimes go deeper or shallower with it.  I find that I like to have mine available to adjust under wind and wave condition.  Nothing worse that the prop flying out of the water under power.  I have broke and lost props completely when that has happened.
