Rich, I tryed it out last year on one of my spinning combo's.  8 lb for dropshotting mostly.  I did not have good luck with it just like you, I think line twist was my main thing.  I haven't really tryed much of the flourocarbons.  I drop shot and use alot of 8 lb Trilene XL and have done ok with it.

It was doodoo!  I got a roll of the 10# stuff ($14.95 for 250 Yds.)  and put  half on 2 spinning reels.  I fought that stuff all day.  It was too stiff.  It would keep twisting and wiffling off my spools.  I was even using swivels with the worms and grubs.  I ran it out several times behind the boat but it would still kink up.  I took some off my spool and that didn't help.

It would probably work great on a bait caster or the smaller diameter stuff.  It worked great for seeing the line and being clear in the water.  Butt what a pain in the derrier!!

Oh well back to the drawing board.

Yeah, been using the stuff and love it.  I use it for my drop shot and leader.  I use Stren Super braid for my main line.  Shows up well above water, and then the transition on my leader.  I use the transition on a couple of spinning outfits for skipping docks and tubes also.  Very visible, sinks well, and good sensitivity.  As for matching with shirts, well I will leave that one alone.

I've used the Vanish Transition, and I like it. It's expensive, and when it gets old, it becomes kinky as with other fluorocarbons, but it's very strong, and it is a very pretty yellowish-orange coloration out of water and is much easier to see than regular Vanish. I'd buy a box and try it.

Mark Maderos has some of it loaded on one of his dozens and dozens and dozens ....... of reels.

He may be able to enlighten you on the true visibility.

I was fishing with him recently and he was using it, on the reel it appears very visible, but did not seem to be real visible out over the water, although it was visible, kind of yellowish.

Sorry, Rich. I couldn't help myself, and I don't have any experience with your line.

Yeah, it is for the visability above the water and the supposed "invisability" below the water.  Especially during the times that the wind blows a belly in the line I have a hard time picking out the line against the bank background, etc.  And that is a time when you really have to watch your line.

If you are getting it to see better than it sounds good. Other than that I don't get crazy with all these special blended poly-this and poly-that lines. I use 8 lb Ande line for all my spinning rods and it has been great. I have yet to break off a fish and have caught two 6 lb largemouth and plenty of 4-5 lb smallies. I think Hankinson said he uses the same stuff with the same results.

Has anyone tried the Berkley Vanish Transition line?  I am thinking about going to that for my lighter lines.

It seems that I am getting...er...ahh..O.K.  older and it is getting harder to see the lighter lines.  I was thinking of going to something like this for my 8 and 10# spinning lines.

It is a flourocarbon line and is "golden" in the sunlight and "clear" under the water.

What do you think?
