Everyone,

Did a little pre-fishing out at Long Lake today in Lacey and caught 10 rock bass (kind of like the bass equivalent of perch), the first of those for me, and one 14", 1.5 pound large mouth, all on drop shot on 10 to 12 feet of water.

The water at the north end of the lake had some pretty serious algae bloom (water was green and there were those big clumps of green algae in the water) and I was wondering if the bass would move away from that stuff because it might reduce the oxygen content.  The south end of the lake looked much better in terms of algae bloom, but everything was very shallow and with weeds.  Tried throwing the frog around the lily pads, spinnerbait over and around weeds/laydowns, black and blue swim jig and all came up zero.

Has anyone been there before and how do you fish such a shallow lake and with all the algae bloom and weeds starting at about 8 feet?

Here is a picture from the north end of the lake showing the algae bloom and dying lily pads.

Karl that part of the lake is supposed to have no boat traffic if you look at the sign at the launch. that part always seems to have some algea issues. I pulled a 16 lb bag outta there a couple weeks ago. coulda been much bigger but I lost a few.
Only got 4 in the boat, a 2-11, a 3-15, and two 4lb 11 ozers. yep two exactly the same size.

Ok that may or may not be the place where youre not supposed to be but there are certain areas that are noted on the map at the launch as having algea. They are labeled in red outline
