July Fish In Goodwin

The July fish in will be at Lake Goodwin on the 9th.

I've heard this is a fun lake to fish, but never actually took the drive up to fish it.

Directions

Take exit 206 on I-5 and go west on SR 531
Take a left on E Lake Goodwin Rd
Go 1.5 miles and make a right to Wenberg State Park

I think a nice "at home breakfast" will be best for me since this lake is 70 miles away from my house.
I'm not familiar with the aea so those of you who would like to get together for breakfast can chime in and decide on a place.
Also I would like some feed back on a good launch time from someone who is familiar with the park and its hours of operation.

Thanks  Dan Caffrey

PS whats this I hear about getting a code from the park ranger?

Posted by Leslie Mutchler at WA fish

Wenburg Park on Lake Goodwin now has 3 park rangers.

The gate is being opened before sun rise. This will probable

continue for the summer season. When the 3rd ranger goes

only those that have the gate lock combination will be able to

get to the boat launch before sunrise. If you want the combination

call me 425-353-2058.

Ok, let's get a head count so I know how much food and drinks to bring.

And thanks John, I'll give you a call for that combo. Cool

Looks like I will make it and also bring a guest. Gabe who fished the Long Lake Fish-In with us.  I sure hope there is a backseat for us both.

Thanks !!!

Launch is at 5:30 AM. There will be no meeting for breakfast due to the length of travel. So eat something before you leave, or on the road. Sorry about the late post. I thought I posted the launch time. Oops Embarrassed

Heres some pics from Goodwin....

Me and Jose got 12 smallies to the boat...all on dropshots...water was clear and had very little weed growth.....looked kinda scary from an anglers viewpoint...waater temps were 66-68.
the others can talk about their fish and techniques.
Lake got so busy after lunch we all pulled out and left by 4:30.

It really turned out to be a long day after day on the water. After helping out some ladies with the aid of my jumper cables to start their car I noticed a big shiny new spike in my left rear tire of the truck. Put my spare on and noticed it was a little low. So I found me a gas station that had air and while putting air in that tire I noticed a big ole blister on my left trailer tire on the inside. Changing tires made me tiredRoll Eyes

So here is a couple more pics of the day.   Smiley

Sorry to hear about the tire issues Rodney......this is one of the constants with this sport that make us have to pay such attention to detail...yes...im gonna order the tires for the truck next week rather than wait till the fall. Tongue
At least the boat motor is running great!!!! Smiley

Hum note to self never let Larry take photos of my fish when he is facing the sun & I am holding a brown fish with a brown shirt on. Dan your fish look huge but I can see they a long & thin mine was all gut I think mine was pre spawn Crazy pre-spawn in July.
I got one on spinner bait 2 on sinko 1 on grub & 1 on drop-shot Post spawn junk fishing at its best. I think this lake kicked out some good numbers & size considering the time of year & conditions.
