The March Fish in will be at Lake Sawyer on Saturday the 5th, 2011

For those not familiar with how to get there you take hwy 18 eastbound from I-5 or hwy 167 till you get to the s/e 272nd exit at Covington. Make a right to go eastbound thru Covington up to 216th ave s/e. Make a right turn and travel approx 1.3 miles to the first left after the fire station....if you see a spillway at the lake on your left you have gone too far as it is two streets before the spillway and it is signed "Boat Launch" on a standard brown sign

I'm currently looking for a good place for breakfast, but I know there are a couple good places around.
stay tuned for breakfast and launch times
Make sure to bring your fizzers, The fish are deep. If you dont have one I have some extras to LOAN out.

Thanks Dan C

This is one I really want to make but that weekend is my anniversary and my wife's birthday, so I'll be away with her.

I hope everyone does great there!

Very nice. Home field advantage for me. Wink if I can get the boat ready by then.

Where can I find a fizzing kit locally or will I have to order on the net?

Dan, If you have an extra I can buy please bring it to the meeting Thursday.

Phil I got U covered. The best way I've found to get fizzers is to go to Dels Farm and Feed. What you will be looking for is horse needles. They are about $3.00 for a 5 packI've found the 18 gauge 1.5" work very well. These are the same needles that come in the Cabelas fizzn kit and they are  20 bucks cheaper than that kit. I read an ancient article by Mark Marcantonio that described the  way he fizzes.  I follow that method to a tee, Its easy and it works every time. I'll be happy to show anyone that wants to learn the method. The smallmouth will be happy too that your not using them as a pin cushion or a voodoo doll Cool

Guys, don't go fizzing bass merely because you caught them deep.  Make sure they need it before you do it; and make sure you know how to do it right or you could do more harm than good. There's lot's of info on the web about it for more info if you're interested.

Thanks Dan.  Grin If you live near there could you pick some up for me. Thanks Rob. I will check there also.

Thanks for the reminder Rodney. Wednesday it will be.

I spent a few hours in the boat with Larry Gonczy and we discussed this subject often when catching them deep. The theory was if caught quickly and released immediately the fish seem to go right back down.
If caught and delayed release, camera not ready, put in livewell to be displayed later etc. etc. then they should be fizzed.
I have been studying methods recently and am sure I can get it right. Just wanted to know the options for getting the tools.

Thanks again Dan. Cya at the meeting Wednesday night.

I went out Sunday to start getting the boat ready to do some fishing and when I pulled the tarp off I found it filled with chunks of foam rubber  Angry

Ratatouille and several of his kids and other relatives decided that chewing holes in my seats and pulling out ALL of the foam rubber was good way to spend these rainy days.  No nests and no one was around, but after cleaning up the mess and looking at the bare seats I can see that I will need to either purchase new or see if I can have the re-upholstered.  Anyone know a good place to have the work done?

Hopefully I will have a fix by the Fish-In!

Always something  Smiley

Does anyone know of any good restaurants around this area? The one I was going to pick (Gloria's) just doesn't have any good places to park a bunch of boats.  I've heard rumors of an IHOP but I'm not sure. Please help! Undecided   either way breakfast will be at 6:00am and launch will be at 7:30.
