Big fish also went to Thomas with a 5.25lb brute!  Can we start fishing one day tournaments?  Tongue

Big fish were certainly hard to come by at this tournament... the bite seemed a little off for some reason. Thomas certainly deserved "big fish" honors and third place with his philanthropic efforts helping fellow WBC member Terry Steffensen limp back to port.  Terry unfortunately hit a 2ft diameter log in the middle of the river going 70mph just a couple minutes after blastoff...this basically took Terry out of the tournament. I'm sure Terry will give his account of the incident....it was certainly very scary after talking with him after it happened.  Terry was in second place after the first day and most likely would have been right at the top of the leaderboard if this unfortunate incident hadn't happened....just bad luck!

Terry, I hope your boat gets repaired soon...I really like seeing that Champion fly down the lake.  Smiley

I need to find a shop to get the transom repaired or estimated.  Talked to insurance today and it's all covered, just need to get it done.  Anybody have any suggestions.  I am going to call Tom's in the morning to talk to them about the motor and maybe see if they work with anyone about hull damage.

Secondly, my hat is off to Thomas for making sure I got back OK and letting me tag along with him the rest of the day.  It was a real pleasure.  I can say my nerves were shot the rest of the day and it really lifted my spirits netting that 5.25 monster.  Thank you Thomas.

Official results to follow.

First of all thanks to everyone for a great time. I was more than glad to give a fellow clubber a hand , especially Terry, since he was the person that helped me out at potholes and let me fish out of his back seat a few years back. Just repaying a favor. I am sure if it would have been me that hit that darn log , some one from the club would have stepped up to help.

As for the big fish, it happens to be my personal best smallie and also my first hardware  I guess there is a first for everything, and I hope it ain't the last. I just happen to think that some days are more lucky than others, but it is nice to catch a fish that size, especially on tournament day.

That picture does not do that fish justice.  The fish was incredibly wide

Beautiful fish!  Just beautiful.  The mug behind it - not so much.  Wink

Nice job Thomas!

Terry - sorry to hear about your boat.  That thoroughly sucks, but I'm just thankful you're ok and nobody got hurt.  Boats can be repaired/replaced.
