List of Tin Boats that have placed in club tourney

This idea came to me as I read new member, Andy's post. Should jar the memory of long time club members and bring back memories.  I invite all of you to post the tin boat model, tournament placing (1st, 2nd, 3rd),location, with month and year.  Its not the boat that catches fish but the fisherman in the boat.  I'll start the list.

1. G3 HP180, 3rd, Potholes, Sept 2008

Larry Sullivan, 1995 Tracker TX-17 with a 40 HP Mercury EFI;
1st. Place Potholes 2001
2nd. Place Banks 2001
2nd. Place Riffe 1999
2nd. Place Whatcom 1998
3rd. Place Potholes 2001
3rd. Place Potholes 2000

My Tracker was a great training rig and now that I have matured...(stop laughing) and learned alot more I believe I could do just as well or maybe better back in that Tracker! and Economically would be better off!!

I don't doubt your fishing prowess but how did you finish in 3rd and 1st at potholes in 2001? Wink  Two different tournaments?  Counting your backseater?

well i dont recall what tournies i've placed in but i can tell you that at very few tournaments did i feel like i was at a dissadvantage because of my boat.  in fact at places like potholes where you can go just about anywhere i feel its an advantage (although my performances there dont prove that  Cheesy).  In fact in two tournaments i recall off the top of my head we fished areas with high winds where other boats left and we stayed and wacked em.  the only thing that i feel i have to do differently is have several starting areas picked out each morning because when you get passed by EVERYONE sometimes the place you want to start has a boat on it.

By the way, Troy was the 2007 WBC Angler of the Year from his tin boat.

I'd say tin boats dominated our club tournies until the late 90s or early 2000s. I miss my old '94 Tracker. Actually, I miss having a boat period. Someday again!

Why do I hear that Bruce Springsteen song in my head? You know the one... "Glorrrryyy dayyys..."

Sarge - You hear that song because you are getting old and reminisent in your old age.  Welcome to our world, dude.  Wink

I remember Scott Ramirez spanking us in his tin boat back in the 90's all the time.

Tracker (tin boat) wins in the past 10 years or so, in my opinion, probably out-weigh the glass boat wins.  I think I've won more tournies in a tin boat than a glass boat myself.  Either way, the "it doesn't matter what kind of boat you're fishing out of" is the best rule of thumb.  A senko thrown from a glass boat doesn't sink any better if thrown from a tin boat!!!  Smiley

You are all wrong!!!!!  I have never heard of a "tin" boat fishing in a WBC tournament.  Oh, maybe you are referring to aluminum boats? Grin Grin

We are small brained bass fishermen, we can't spell big words, as can be seen all understand simple words like "tin".  I use the word "we", in a non personal manner as I don't know the big proper word to use let alone spell it.  Grin Grin

No retractions here, Ray! According to Mr. Webster, we are correct:

Before buying the Skeeter I thought seriously about going Tin myself. Less running and gunning and more focus on fishing a certain area well.

It would be cool if all us could only afford the tin boat. No disadvantaged fisherman.
