I'm seriously considering buying the new Fortrex trolling motor (101 lb, 36 v) in the next few days.

Anyone heard any solid opinions or reviews?

I have read a little bit about it.  There has been a few issues with a sticky foot button but I think its an easy fix.  They say it is the most solid feeling, quiet, and powerful trolling motor.  The new mount really makes a difference.  You will love it Stu.

Thanks, Chris and Russ.

Here is some of the info I have gathered, as well

http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=358871&postid=3503874

Here's something that makes me nervous - "Lifting the motor and bowguard off of the mount is now even easier on Fortrex – just remove a single cap screw."

If that makes it easy to steal the motor, I'm going to end up removing it every time it is not in my sight and having to store it inside somewhere... Huh

Is your current one broken?? seems really pricey-vs-the standard models.

My current one is a POS.  Not enough control in rough water or around docks and laydowns (electric steer Motor Guide).

I need the 62" shaft for the Lund and need to upgrade to the 36v 101 for the power - and I am OK with the price I can get for the benefits.  Cool

So, just looking for any red flags before I go ahead.

Thanks,
Stu

Stu,

When you get it find out the size of the screw and we will get you a security screw so no one jacks your motor.

Thanks, Russ.   Smiley

I would also like to see about buying upgraded bolts, etc. from you to mount it to the boat.

Stu I have heard good things about them. I also was considering one. My trolling motor has never been the same since I tried to load my boat on the trailer with it down. DumbA#$

The one I was looking at was about $1250.00. I was going to get the 50-52" shaft.
