ok so i've been looking into maybe fishing these next year and was curious as to how someone qualifies as a boater?  think i may just go non-boater for the first year, but obviously the best way to make the state team is by being a boater.  daryl...maderos...sullivan...anyone...help me out please  Cheesy

You have to be a member of one of the associated clubs, then pretty much just sign up. I would suggest going as a non-boater first. I did it the past 2 years and I have learned ALOT...it is fun to fish with some of the best in the state out of the back of the boat. I am going to fish it this year as a boater, so if anyone is interested in signing up with me as a non-boater, just contact me.

It's a hoot and a half, that's for sure! If after seeing the schedule you feel confident with the chosen waters, by all means go as a boater, on the other hand, if there are lakes where you've done ok at but not great, the back seat may offer some great learning possiblities.  My 1st year of fishing it I got saddled up with Hobbs Jr. on Lk. Wa, you talk about putting on a clinic, I watched him put 21lbs of smallies in the boat inside of an hr., Shocked a very  good angler on this body of water. The second day I drew a boater who didn't know the lake hardly at all and we ended up fishing allot of spots I knew.  For the most of it the boaters had a good grip on what was going on, but there are no promises.... Roll Eyes Hope this helps... Tongue

Like Troy, I to am interested in participating in some of these qualifiers. I am already a member of Bass fed. nation but do you have to be a member of a club to compete in the FLW qualifiers? Not sure how it works. I will probably compete as a non-boater just for the experience.

well thomas from my understanding you have to me a member of a flw affiliated club to fish the qualifiers.  on the state fed website i think they have links to which clubs are affiliated.

Look forward to seeing you guys out there.
FLW and BASS both have good schedules.

I am going to fish the FLW Qualifiers as a boater and Jon Werner is going to be my Non-Boater Partner.

Thomas, You and Patrick are fishing?

Some of the clubs only send 10 people per club. They qualify by finishing in the top ten in there club events. But as long as you and your non-boater are members of that club,  you can buy in with the state federation.

Kent used to be a large club. What they have 5 members now a days?? They used to be one of the most competitive clubs in the state. The last I had heard Joe Jacoby, Shawn McConvile, Rick Innocenti were in the club. Good way to get into the qualifiers. A better way I would think is to start your own paper club like many clubs do.
