The best rig $700 could buy and the body is pretty straight! A 1988 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4X4 automatic.

I think you will find that diesel will get better mileage than the cherokee. I would be surprised if it was better. Is the cherokee 4wd?

My cherokees' have treated me and my other very well and besides a couple sets of brakes and afew miscelaneous parts over the years, mine has 380,000+ on it and Connies has 254,000 on it and while mine is "getting tired" it still gets 19-21 around town and 16-17 pulling the boat.
