"Western Bass Club sponsors seven tournaments - usually two-day events - every year. April is a draw-style tournament intended to help new members become comfortable with tournaments, July is a Jack ‘n’ Jill tournament, and October is a team tournament.

 "May, June, August, and September are traditionally point tournaments where individual anglers earn points towards the “Angler of the Year”, "Female Angler of the Year" and "Couple of the Year" divisions.

(For these tournaments, non-boaters need to contact and make arrangements to fish with a specific boater prior to the tournament weekend)

"Plaques and prizes are awarded to first- through (third)-place finishers, and prizes also go to the member catching big fish of the tournament. Tournament entry fees are $18 plus $2 for an optional big fish pot.

"The end of the first day of competition is topped off with a large potluck-style dinner that has proven to be a fun time for all. This is a great time for socializing and relaxation after a hard day of fishing. It takes away the non-social edge that many competitive events foster. Many members attend the tournaments due to the camping and socializing alone, with the tournament as an added bonus.

"Points are awarded depending on how you finish. The "Angler of the Year", "Female Angler of the Year, and "Couple of the Year" awards are determined by adding each members' points acquired in his/her best three out of the four tournament finishes. Points for each placement per tournament are awarded as follows:

"Point System
1st 101 pts
2nd 95 pts
3rd 90 pts
4th 85 pts
5th 80 pts
Points will then drop by five-point increments (75, 70, 65 etc.) in order of finish down to 10 points. All anglers finishing below a 10 point finish will receive 5 points for attending. Big fish of the tournament does not accumulate Angler of the Year points."

Washington State Jamboree

In addition to these tournaments, the club also participates in the Washington State Bass Federation Jamboree, a club-against-club competition held on Banks lake over Memorial Day weekend. This three day event is the largest tournament in the state pitting over 30 clubs against each other for trophies, prizes and bragging rights.
