Well after filing my 2007 taxes this past weekend, I was in a big funk because of how much I had to pay over my withholdings. (A Lot)
I tried to console myself by saying "If you didn't make so much on your investments, you would not have had to pay so much due to capital gains on those investments.
That sounds good and is true, but it still hurts to write a check for as much as I did.
When I got home from work last night and checked my mail, I had a check from the state for $56.00.
Not a huge amount, but never-the-less
something back from some govt. agency.
It was my fuel tax rebate on all the fuel I used in my boat for last year and it made me smile a little bit.
The really neat thing was I filed the request on the 19th of March and got the rrefund on the 31st!
I can't imagine a government agency being so efficient.
Save your receipts for 2008 and you can take a little bit of the edge off of these super-high fuel costs.
