Burned Out Need some Help??

Okay guys,

I am burned out and need a break. I'm thinking of some early fishing relief to get my motivation back and attitude back.

Looking into either fishing Clear Lake or the Delta in the next few weeks. Need some opinions please on which would be better this time of year.

I'm also looking for someone to ride down with me and enjoy some time off and split expenses.

Having never fished the Delta Russ, I would have to say Clear Lake would be a good choice.....I would hope the weather would stabilize a little more as it gets tough with any cold fronts.
Of course......you know that too! Wink

I guess I need to start checking what the temps are down there at this time of year.

Hey Russ,
Just seen the tourney results for a Delta tourney.  About 1/3 of the field blanked.  Those that did catch some fish were very healthy weiths  4 fish for 23lbs won it.  There big fish was a 9lb'er.  If I were to go and just fish for numbers, I would venture to one of the foothills lakes or shasta.  My personal choice would be Don Pedro.  It has both spots and some giant largemouth in it.  It would give you the option of fishing for numbers or size.

Kirk,

That may be the best idea yet. Shasta is about 5 hours away from my Sunriver house and it fishes well all year and it is only 10 hours from here.

Hmm I think I will strongly look into that.

Shasta is low and cold and tons of snow in area. So I need to rethink this. Reports from Clear Lake say water temps 40-50 and bite is tuff right now.
Oh well i tried.

Come on Potholes!!

Looks like its going to be the Delta 3rd week of March. Just got off the phone with Bobby Barrack and suggested some stuff then.

Anybody up for it?

Sounds like fun, Russ.  Good luck!

We'll be at Lake Guntersville fishing for prespawn/spawning bass the same week.

I'm also going to the Classic next week.

Woo Hoo!  What a way to start the year!

I just returned from a week of 85* temps winching in "hogs" at El Salto. Smiley  My largest was a 6'10".  Pete Cambell from Pasco caught an 8'13" and a 8'2". My boatmate, Ed Vandeveer from Kennewick, had a 7'11".  Al Siebert nailed a couple of 7's.  We all caught so many 3,4, and 5lb fish that we got bored with them.  Each day was good for 40 or more bass.  Smiley
I still can't believe how hard those Mexican bass fight.  A two lb LMB from El Salto will easily put a 4-5 lb Columbia River SMB to shame.  Shocked

Yup the 10 day California License just came in the mail.

Smitty,

You are probably experiencing Senkbo now with all those fished you roped.
