I dont know exactly about running a memory card, but you should get a Navionics HOTMAPS SD Card. It will give you great underwater mapping and you will be able to save so many waypoints you will not know what to do with yourself.
You can get them for $150 or so.

thanks brian thats what i was wondering.  nick ya the unit itself only holds 1000 waypoints in storage so if you had more or it breaks bye bye waypoints.
