Here is Jim's article from the newsletter. Hopefully, we will have more boats than backseaters. If I am not able to fix my trolling motor this weekend, I might be a backseater, too.
"What’s going on? Are you ready to crawl out of your winter skin? I know the sun is still hiding, but the days are getting longer. Can’t wait to be fishing in the sun! My nephew was fishing in Eastern Washington in 70 degrees last week. I may have to do a road trip. Enough day dreaming.
Silver Lake Draw tournament is here and if it is like the open that just happened, you’d better have some good rain gear. Last year was half and half, let’s hope Western Bass has a good year for weather.
Silver Lake is a draw tournament, it is not a points tournament. It is for the backseaters to have a chance to get to know who the boaters are, and a chance to fish out of a couple of different boats.
Last year I tried to be soft on the rules on who fished on what boat. This year I have had people ask if they can fish with their spouse or children. I have no problem with that, but I still have to accommodate all the other backseaters. If it comes down to having to put three people in a boat, all boats will have to be open. I would rather put them into larger boats first, before sinking a small one.
I have not seen three to a boat yet, but this is just in case. This tournament is about the fishing, not the competition, and making sure that everyone is having a good time. May is when you can put your serious face on.
If you are still unsure on how to arrive at Silver Lake, directions and location are in the March Newsletter. Last year’s potluck was dinner at the pizza restaurant. The weather put a damper on eating outside. If nobody has any objections, maybe we can do the same this year.
Well, I hope you are all as excited as I am to start fishing. I am looking forward to seeing you on the water with a fishing rod in your hand and a smile on your face.
Your Tournament Director, Jim Rumman"
