March 10 Fish In - Long Lake (Kitsap)

Quote Print Post
The March Fish-In will be on March 10 at Long Lake in Kitsap County. It’s a little on the early side for this lake, but it’s getting close to time for it to wake up  - and those who fished Washington and Sammamish all winter need at least a short road trip.

Chris B caught a pig on this lake early last spring.

Hope to see lots of folks there. I’ll have the meat and soup there. It’s a potluck, so please bring something you’d like to share with us. We might have access to a friend of mine’s dock and BBQ for float up dining. Otherwise, we’ll eat in the parking lot.

Where: Long Lake (Kitsap County)
When:  Saturday, March 10, 2007

Directions to Shari’s            (Meet at 5:30 AM):
Take the I-5 SOUTH exit toward TACOMA
Take exit #132 onto WA-16 WEST toward GIG HARBOR/BREMERTON - go 22.9 mi
Take ramp toward SOUTHWORTH FY - go 0.3 mi
Turn right on SE SEDGWICK RD - go 0.1 mi
Turn right on BRAVO TER - go < 0.1 mi
Arrive at 221 BRAVO TER, PORT ORCHARD, on the left

Directions to the Launch     (Meet at 7:00 AM):
Take I-5 South to West 16 and head over the Narrows Bridge. N on SR 16, exit at Sedgwick Rd, go E 2.5 mi; R on Long Lake Rd SE; go .4 mi; R on Clover Valley Rd, go 1.1 mi. These are the directions from the Fish and game website.

I'm being told that Long Lake is closed until trout season opens, but I can't find that anywhere. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks, Troy.

Yeah, I checked and our 2006 April Fish-In was on April 1 at Long Lake (Kitsap) last year. We are good to go.

I normally fish with Y2SAYS, but he might be working that w/e.  If he can't make it, and if anyone is looking for a backseater, please let me know.  I have never fished Long Lake, and have been waiting a while to try it out.

Thanks,
Dan

Long lake, eh?  Haven't been there since my al-lo-mi-nium days.  Smiley  Come to think of it, I believe that was the last fish-in there that netted a 7-pounder, and that, I think was in March or April.  It was cold and windy, that's all I remember.  And the guy who caught it basically tossed a jig at a laydown as the wind blew him by it.

It'll be good to be back.  Smiley

Dan,

No need to arrange a backseat for the fish-in. If you come along. I guarantee you will have a backseat to fish from.

Please check out our Ambassador Program ans Fish-In info at: http://www.westernbassclub.com/Ambassador.html

My friend came through and has offered to let us use his brand new dock and patio to have our BBQ at Long Lake. We can float up to have lunch, so we won't have to load up out of the water or eat in the parking lot. I am planning on sticking around for a while after lunch if the bite and weather are OK.

I'm also thinking that beef stew and rolls might be a good change from hot dogs and chili while the weather is still cold.

More details to come.
