Hi guys, I'm wondering what the typical water temperature is in this general area (Western Washington) that causes largemouths to get the spawn going in full swing.  Anybody know? Undecided

i would say mid sixties seem to be a temp for largies to start faning beds.  water temp today was 66, 67 at spanaway and alot of bass were cruising.  only found a couple beds thought.  Althought i saw the exact same thing there a three weeks ago with temps a little lower.

I also was at spanaway today, and caught 3 smallies off beds, and didnt see any largies on beds. In fact I only saw a few largies. I sure did see a zillion sunfish beds however. I havent fished this lake in 3 weeks, so I dont know what happened (what phase the largies are in). I found numerous largies on beds on washington two weeks ago, but when we went back there last weekend in a tourny, only saw a few bucks.

The sunfish beds could be a sign that bass have spawned. They usually spawn after bass do in the same areas. I don't think there is a set temp, but more of a range. It seems like there is about a 10 degree range around here that bass will spawn in, from 60-70. There are so many others determining exactly when bass will spawn however.

Thanks for the info., guys. Smiley

I can vouch for sunfish beds.  I used my smallest fly rod on Saturday and caught sunfish one after another off beds in Bonney Lake...they were all over the place.  They're a real kick in the pants on a small fly rod. Grin
