So I was rootin around in my tackle box and I saw a couple mudbug lures which made me wonder -

how big can I expect to see these things up here? crawdads I mean.  I don't wanna throw a lure in that's 50% larger than the rest of the general population....

Mr Arkie,

You probably wouldn't believe it if I told you but the average mudbug/crawdad is about 8-10" long. I have caught sveral over 12" long. When I moved up here from Ga I was amazed that these were so big here hell I though they was small lobsters.

Sean

I was out on Lake Washington Yesterday and saw something that really surprised me.

A two person team running a Crawdad trap line!

They were pulling up more than a dozen mudbugs per trap and I saw them pull up about a dozen traps and when looked around about an hour later, they were still pulling up traps.

They showed me a couple of the critters and they were easily 8 or 10 inches long.

Alot of Crawfish in the Northwest waters.

Obviously they had a commercial license, but the rest of us are limited to two pots each.  I haven't put mine out yet this year but I've enjoyed a crawfish dinner many a time in previous years!  Mmmmm....

Im pretty confident I know where you saw them pulling pots, and I have seen them pulling them their also. In fact a lost a $6 jointed rapala when bottom bouncing up that area trying to catch smalies in the early spring on their line.
