I have Cabela's inflatables, had one fail to inflate during a real quick immersion at a fish-in. The water never got to the trigger that was supposed to dissolve.

Ask Mike Remmey why he doesn't use one anymore.  I have the regular life jackets now because if I'm thrown off the boat, I want to make sure my body is protected or if I happen to hit the steering wheel.  There are many videos of the inflatables not inflating.  Also, replacing the C02 costs money when you have to do it every 5 years or so.  Rather pay one time and not have to worry about it.

The only thing I looked at was if you are knocked out and the vest is damaged in the event and leaking it will deflate... A regular flotation vest will still support you.

My 2 cents

Hey Folks,

Curious what everyone thinks about inflatable life vests. it seems they are named based on Auto/Manual inflation and size of CO2 cartridge that inflates them. How good is a 24 versus a 33 and are there brands to stay away from? I am seeing vests be Onyx and Mustang and of course Bass Pro has their branded vests made by ???.  Your thoughts and advise will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim
