I have fished Union many times The launch is good & free the parking can be a pain. I used my little boat there & it was not a problem. Bigger boats unhook the trailer & take 2 spaces. You can fit lots of boats & if your there early the lot will be wide open as most the workers will not be in yet. Now I am not sure if there are any signs that state no parking trailers only now but they had non b4.
The fishing can be fun cause you catch a lot but its hard to find any size in the summer. The fish have lots of cover & you cant skip under it to get at them as they are floating houses. Boat traffic is crazy but that don't start till noon & the wave action is minimal due to the no wake & speed limit(Wave action helps the fishing.). Its not a peaceful place with the traffic noise on the bridges & the working in the ship yard ect.
I would go eat at Ivers there you can pull your boat right to the dock & walk up & buy lunch.I would not attend hooters lunch if I went It not somewhere I would want my daughter to work so I will not give my $ to them.

Alder sounds fun.  Lawrence in the summer would be a good change up.

Man that's dismal. Sad I've been trying to figure out a date for the fish in that won't conflict with my job or club events. Gimme a day or two it will not be this Saturday. Sorry for the late post but this is the busiest time of year for me. After seeing that I almost think we should go somewhere else, any ideas? I donno but Union in August sounds like a circus. Same with WA. Whatever, gimme some Ideas if U feel the same way. If not I guess we can go there Cool

Hey guys,

Went down to Lake Union last week and wasn't too impressed with the parking situation at the Sunnyside Ave N boat ramp (a little east of Gasworks park).  The parking spots are not built for trailers so you have to take up a few spots and angle your trailer around (see photo).  Hooter's is not there anymore, didn't see it from the water and looked online.  Is the launch area in Ballard any better?

I fished Lake Union a couple weeks ago and lauched out of were the duck boats launch, on the north end of the lake. There is also a launch over in Ballard. Both are free and have free parking.

I'm game for anywhere that gets me off my frameless pontoon and into big water.

Is there a decent ramp for bass boats & parking that doesn't cost a fortune near there?  Otherwise it's a long slow idle to get into Lake Union.

I've heard for years that there are big bass that are little pressured in Lake Union.  There are sunken wrecks on the bottom as well that should hold some fish and tons of docks as well as a gravel shoreline near Gasworks.  Should be fun if enough boaters show up.

oh crap I forgot to post that the fish in will be held on July 21st at Black lake in olympia. But August, or "HAWGust" as I like to call it, we can do that it sounds like fun. I hear there are some really big largies in Union. And at Hooters there are some really big... uhm...  steaks yeah steaks

Hey Dan.....maybe we should do a Fish-In within the boundaries of Lake Union......we did one several years ago and held the lunch at Hooters where we watched the World Cup soccer match as they had dock tie-up space. just wondering.... Wink
