It was a cold start to the morning, fish where co-operative. Every boat caught fish, nearly all boats landed at least one small mouth bass. 5 boats, 10 anglers, 5 small mouth running from 3.2 lbs up to 4.7 lbs. Two crank bait and 3 on jigs.

Hi All,

I visited the WDFW launch on American Lake today and just wanted to warn everyone to take the access road VERY slowly. There are some giant potholes in there, and a guy with a Ranger today actually bent his axle and cracked a fender hitting a bump too hard. The road could definitely use some maintenance, but it is still totally useable for the fish-in. Just go slowly!

American Lake April 3rd 2010


Breakfast will be at 5:30 AM at Shari's, 1933 S 72nd St, Tacoma, WA 98408


Directions: From Federal Way, drive I-5 south. Take exit 129 for So 72 St toward So 84 St. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for S 72 St/S 84 St. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for Tacoma Mall Blvd/72nd St S and merge onto Tacoma Mall Blvd. Turn right at S 72nd St/S 74th St. Continue to follow S 72nd St. Turn left at S Hosmer St. Destination will be on the left.

Directions: From Hiway 512/Lacey, drive I-5 N toward Seattle/Tacoma, Take exit 129 toward S 72 St. Turn right at S 72nd St. Take the 1st left onto S Hosmer St. Destination will be on the left.


Meet at the State Boat Launch at 7:30 AM.


Directions: From Tacoma, drive I-5 south. Take exit 122 to Camp Murray (Berkley). Turn right on Berkley and then left on Portland Ave. Access is on left after bend in road.

Directions: From Lacey, drive I-5 N toward Seattle/Tacoma. Take exit 122 for Berkeley St. Turn left at Berkeley St SW. Turn left at Portland Ave SW. Access is on left after bend in road.
