Hey Mark I enjoyed following the results day to day. It is always nice to have someone I consider a friend to root for. I wish the results would have come out better for you. It just adds fuel to the competitive spirit for the next tourney down the line. I am glad you had fun and had your mind open to learning from the others you fished with. It will broaden your horizons and next time hopefully things will swing more in your favor....

Thanks for the the calls and the support all of you. What a FANTASTIC event this is. Talk about alot of fun. I would encourage everyone to try and make either the BASS or FLW federation teams. You will learn ALOT, and have a great time doing it. I fished with a guy from UT the first day. Second day was the eventual NM state champ Franco Callevajos, and the third day with a guy from CA who was a real pleasure to fish with. Needless to say, CDA is a awesome lake. The conditions made it real tough as most of the boats were concentrated in 3 area's. The Zoo was exactly that. Imagine the Newport canals or the Streeters canal with 20 boats in it. That is what it was like. Needless to say, I swung for the fences on Friday and spent the day fishing 2 spots that I knew had big fish on it. I needed a BIG sack to qualify. CDA is capable of 25lb sacks in a heart beat. On Sunday's prefish I stuck 22lbs in an hour, it included a 7lb + fish. I fished it in the tourney on Tues and Friday and it only produced 1 fish. There were many challenges in this tourney and alot of things learned.

Well Mark wieghed in a 15oz fish today and finished the 3 day tournament with about 17 lbs. Jim Garrett did not win, he came in with 6 lbs. today and Les Whitley second year boater in the federation won Washington State title with 35 lbs. He will be going to the Nationals next year.
The western divisional will be in Washington next year. I don't know what lake yet. I would bet Tri-Cities.

GO Jim Garrett! I'm sure Danny's very proud of his dad- he's been doing really good in a lot of tournies these past couple of years since Danny left off to Missouri.....I wonder if this is a coincidence....hhm?

Yes, I believe it is.
He can belong to the Washington Federation. More than one person in our division crosses state lines.

James Garret, as in Danny's dad? If so, doesn't he live in Idaho?

Mark had a tough day today and brought in 6.4lbs. James Garrett is leading the Washington federation with 25.1lbs. There was not many double digit bags and there were a lot of zeros. The sun came out and the water got 6 degrees colder overnight. I guess they are getting a lot of mountain water run off and its cooling down the water.

Mark is in 53rd place out of 124 anglers with 2 days yet to fish. I talked to him after the weigh-in and he said the fish he found in practice were caught early in the morning before they got there. Mark and his Boater each caught 4 fish. Mark has 9lbs 14 oz and his boater had 11 lbs., he is still in it. The best wieght for Washington is James Garrett with 16lbs and he is in 20th. All he has to do is beat all the other Washington anglers.
You can watch a live stream on bassmaster.com at 2:00pm our time.

PS He did see moose that scared the hell out of him and his boater. Yes, he talked about on stage at the weigh-in, what a dork.

Hey Western.....Mark Maderos is fishing at Lake Cour D Alene in Idaho on the next leg of the BASS Regionals starting today through Friday so keep an eye out at the bassmaster website as they should post results this afternoon. Mark caught 21 pounds in one of the pre-fish days but is entered as a Co-Angler so give it up for Da-Man!!!
