Thats a good question. I know you can go as an individual but you are limited to only 5 fish. As far as adding a partner later I can't answer that one.

I am constantly looking for it in the mailbox, cause as soon as I get it, it is going in the mail.

Do you know if you can enter as an individual and add on a partner later?

Joel,

They have a list of folks from the previous year who entered and thats who they send them to. The ones that get in are just the lucky ones. There has been years that I have not gotten in as well because I mailed the entry out late.

Hey Joel...Me and Bob B. borrowed an invite last year and placed 11th overall and that moved us up to "Invited Status" I think it is a cool way to do it as it keeps a hungry group of folks after an entry!

Smitty, Doug, and Russ,

Just to clear everything up I didn't have any intention of fishing this tournament, just was wondering about some things incase I ever gain the knowledge and reputation to get an invite Wink.  I think I'll just stick to the Silver Lake Opens for now where I can try to be the big fish in the little pond Smiley.  I guess my only other question is if you have to be on the list to get in, how do they know who all to let in if so many people give away their invitations?

Joel,

Doug and Smitty nailed this one. Yes there is a waiting list as many people who enter don't make it in every year. Bob Payseno can answer this one for you he didn't almost make it in one year as he didn't make the cut-off and someone dropped out at the last minute so he could get in.

Its also a tournament that is set up where contestants don't balst off until 9:30 and fish til 5:30 and 10-6:30 for 2nd flight. Winners get $2000 and entry fee is only $100 per team. They pay out to like 25th I believe.

Anyway its a great event run by the Potholes Bass Club.

Joel, you don't want to fish that one anyway, its easier to be a big fish in a little pond opposed to a little fish in a big pond.  I pretty sure there is a waiting list to get on the invitation list.  If someone passes away I think their spot can be willed to a family member.

Joel, the Potholes open began as an open tournament 30 years ago before you were born. Shocked  It has evolved to the point that they can only accommodate so many contestants. Huh  Therefore, it has be come an invitational with an open name.  Does that clear the contradictory terminology up for you? Undecided

If it's an invite only doesn't that kind of contradict the "open" status?  Huh

Isn't that like saying that our draw tournament is an open, but you have to be a member to fish in it?

Just wondering?

Who puts on this open?  Sounds like it's a circus trying to just get an entry form.   Grin

I just spoke to Dave Jarrel and he said that he normally gets two entries in the mail so I ask him to call me when he gets them in so I could hand out to someone who needs one.
