Thane went out to Alder Lake last night and the water is even lower than it was last week. Most people have said they don't want Kapowsin, Clear Lake is too small, and St Clair is a long ways from where we were going anyway, so...

I have moved the Aug. 11 Fish-In to Lake Washington.

Everyone I have heard from is doing well on Washington right now, and it is close for most people. We'll go explore a new lake another month.

If you know of a member or guest who was planning to go, please call them and let them know about the change. I'll reach out to as many people as I can.

When:  Saturday, August 11, 2006

Where:  Lake Washington, Mercer Launch

Meet at 4:00 am for breakfast… OR… meet at the launch at 5:30 am.

Directions to Denny’s:
Merge onto I-405 N toward BELLEVUE/EVERETT. 5.15 mi. Take the NE 44TH ST exit, EXIT 7. 0.27 miles. Turn LEFT onto NE 44TH ST. 0.16 miles. NE 44TH ST becomes LAKE WASHINGTON BLVD N.
0.07 miles. 4750 N.E. LAKE   WASHINGTON BLVD. RENTON WA  98056

Directions to the Launch:
From Hwy 405 take the I-90 towards Seattle . Take exit 8 (East Mercer Way) . At the intersection, turn left (south) onto
E Mercer Way. Go back across I-90 and take the first left after the freeway on ramp. This will go down the hill to the launch .     Launch fee is $7.00

if fishing kapowsin there is a fairly straighforward backway through orting and sumner that would bypass the dredded meridian. i'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled on thurday so it's looking doubtful that i'll be attending this one even though its so close.

I was kind of hoping for St. Claire. I don't like going to Kapowsin because the drive down Meridian Ave is a pain in the @#$@.
I have never been to St Claire but looks very interesting from google earth.

I'll make the call before the end of the day Wednesday, Aug 1.

I am hoping we can get into Alder. If not, I am leaning toward Kapowsin. I don't want to add the extra driving time to Riffe at the last minute, if I can help it.

Any interest in heading down the road to Riffe? Could we still meet at the same Denny's?

A big enough boat launch will be nice for lunch and such.....St Clair did well for that if I recollect..... and speed limit is a plus.

Although I'm not fishing this but I fish clear lake a lot I just thought I would give you some info.

#1 There is a rock hump behind your boat when you launch that if you are trimmed down to far you can hit I push my boat off and let it float past the hump.

#2 There is not much room to beach your boat

#3 Boat traffic if it is a nice day there will be a lot of jet skiers and water skiers the lake is not very big and when there is a lot of boat traffic the fishing is very tuff. I normally will fish early in the morning or in the evening to avoid all of the boat traffic.

All of this said this is a fun lake to fish and has both largemouth and smallmouth in it.

Other lakes in the area would be Ohop or Tanawax both are largemouth lakes Ohop has a speed limit 8mph from 3pm to 11am

St. Claire is an option as well. Great top water bite in the am and have caught some5-7's out of there as well.

And over half the lake is a no wake zone.

I would vote for Clear since I have not been there either.

Clear sounds like fun I have never been & I am always up for new water.
I just don't want to get up so early I need my beauty sleep.

I can't make this fish-in, but I have heard that Clear Lake is the bomb...
