FISHED SPANAWAY FOR TWO HOURS LAST NIGHT IN THE RAIN. I HAD A BITE OFF ONE DOCK, AND THE FISH DIDN'T STICK, SO I THREW BACK AND GOT SHORT BIT AGAIN. I SAW THE SILOUTTE OF THAT FISH, AND I'M GUESSING IT WAS IN THE 5-6LB CLASS. SHE WOULDN'T GO AFTER THAT. THEN I WENT TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LAKE, AND FISHED A LARGE ROCKY FLAT, AND WAS THROWIN A TRAP IN 3-4FT OF WATER. I WAS HUCKIN AND WINDING, AND HOOKED INTO AN ABSOLUTE MONARCH, I GOT HER ALL THE WAY TO THE BOAT, AND SHE THREW THE HOOK. SHE WAS FAR BIGGER THAN ANY FISH IVE EVER SEEN, AND I'M GUESSING BETWEEN 9-10LBS. SHE SCARED THE POOP OUT OF ME WHEN I HAD HER TO THE BOAT. THE MORAL OF THE STORY, ALLWAYS HAVE THE NET READY WHEN FISHING CRANKS AND TRAPS. I ALSO SAW ONE EMPTY BED IN THE USUAL BEDDING AREAS FOR SMALLIES.

The launch at Spanaway will not close until January. Was out today for a few hours and caught one largie at 2.5lbs, and missed four others on jigs. Fish was in 3ft, and the water temp was 58 on the southend, and 55 on the northend.

I have in the past many times...
Last year bought the yearly 1st time I lauched and definatly got my moneys worth. Was concerned about buying one this year, any idea if they plan to Prorate it since they know they are going to have the launch closed?
Suppose I'll find out tomorrow. Although with it being spring break and the first "summer" day we've had in a while the locals may be rippin the lake up in the ski boats. Hmm maybe a 2 lake day AM Spanaway PM Steilacoom. I would like some tips from the Southenders on where to find the Largemouth in Steilacoom I like the lake but I've only caught bass it the 2 little bays nothing ever in the main lake.

my sources tell me  Roll Eyes that the launch will be closed in the fall instead of this spring.  also you never get away with not paying the launch fee at spanaway.

Haven't drove out to Spanaway yet...but have heard they are doing lots of construction out there. They closing the ramp at anytime? Is parking effected? And lastly they still not there to collect launch fees till the 3 day weekend?

Not yet, don't usally see those until may/june.  They come up spawn and go back to hiding. If you do see one, fish them from a distance, they are very spooky and they don't stay on the bed. I had a shot at one 2 yrs. ago and finally got her interested when a 4lber shot out of no where and swiped the bait, after that I never saw her again. She was every bit of 10+. As far as the bloom goes, it's not bad yet.
