Some tourneys give money and a rod. Usually the catcher of the big fish keeps the rod and the money is split. If ya break the rod in half, both of ya have to go to use it. LOL

Yup, I don't see it any other way, as many of you have said.... Team means right down the middle!!

I'm glad everyone answered the way I would expect team partners to do. I have seen otherwise. Russ

I've always split it. I always thought that's the right thing to do. I've never even had to debate the question - or bring it up.

That's really cool to hear lots of boat owners saying that they would split the winnings. I assumed that if the big fish was caught by the boat owner, he would keep the money, and if the backseater caught the big fish, he would split with the boat owner.

I have been in this situation a couple of times, and every time we split the winnings. I would be shocked if I found out that anyone in our club acted differently. Western has some of the most top noched anglers out there and I don't see us acting this way. The Weedwalker

50/50, that's what a team is.

I would thiink youwould split it unless you had some pre-arranged agreement that the money went to whoever caught it. Here's a questions...Do both anglers from that team get a trophy or just the one who caught it?

Your right Nick. There is no I in team, but there is a M and a E. That spells ME. And without ME all that is left is T and A.
Sorry little joke.
Split the money down the middle.

This is a topic I would talk to my partner about. If I heard that someone took off with big fish money. I would darn sure make sure I wouldn't ever fish a team tourney with them. The key is TEAM and their is no I in TEAM. That's why I quit school sports. Everyone was to much for the I and I was about the TEAM.

The best way to answer that would be with another question.
Would you be mad if your partner did not share the money he won from the big fish pool?
If you would be mad, then you dang better share the pool.

I want to know your thoughts on this sometimes ethical question. If you were fishing a team tourney and caught the biggest fish of the tourney and won money for it would you:
A) Share it with your partner?
or
B) Keep the money and run?
Curious about your responses and please answer honestly.
