Required Equipment for Tournaments

Since our tournament permits are finalized.  I thought I would post a list of requirements for every boat.  These are non-negotiable and for the safety of you and others.  If you are missing any of these you will not be allowed to fish in tournaments.

1.  Anyone born of or after Jan 1 1955 is required to have completed a boaters education class.
2.  Chest type life preserver for everyone on board (must be worn any time main engine is running).
3.  Throwable flotation cushion.
4.  Operable ignition kill switch (must be connected to driver when main engine is running).
5.  Fire extinguisher
6.  Horn or whistle
7.  Flares that are not expired
8.  Carbon monoxide warning sticker
9.  Tournament banner
10.  Functioning livewell
11.  A minimum $300,000 liability insurance

I think that is everything.  If I forgot something feel free to chime in.

Naomi & I are thinking about fishing in our first tournament(s) this year.  Are tournament banners supplied at each tournament or is there someplace to go buy one?

Thanks

Tim, u can get one at limit out, or auburn sports and marine.  They are neoprene and slip over your outboard.  One side of them is orange and other is bright neon green, says "tournament", or "contest" on it!

Awesome tim/naomi.  The thrill and excitement of tournsments can't be matched in my opinion. Nothin better than hangin out after a long day competing tellin stories.

Also, if you purchase a tournament banner make sure you buy the right size for your motor.  I believe they are made in 3 different sizes.

Question;
Item 7 flares, according to https://www.boat-ed.com/washington/handbook/page/40/Visual-Distress-Signals-VDSs... and https://app.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=352-60-040 Visual Distress Signals are only required on coastal waters not inland waters. I also talked to a WDFW officer last weekend at the ramp and he confirmed this, so is this a club requirement since it is not required by the state ?

Someone else can probably answer this better than I. But I know that for any of the tournament circuits including the jamboree all require flares of some sort that are not outdated to be carried on your boat.

It is a club rule.  Also, every major circuit and most every open tournament require them.
