The Banks Lake event is in the books and it was a struggle as the lake was lowered 3 feet just days earlier and two cold fronts pushed the fish around even more!! Lake temps were 67-69 at the start and 62-63 by Sunday and yes...the wind played its part keeping a lot of folks off the big flats and huddled in coves.
1st place and Big Fish Troy Kelly with 16.62 pounds and a Smally at 4.16 lbs!!
2nd Place was a tie with Mark Brown edging out Kirk Holmes at 16.40 lbs and tie breaker BF at 3.63 lbs.
3rd. place Kirk Holmes 16.40 lbs BF at 3.27 lbs
4th place Glenn May....................15.98 pounds.
5th place Brian Olson...................15.18 pounds.
6th place Don Hankinson..............14.45 pounds.
7th place Ernest Griffin.................12.98 pounds.
8th place Rodney Heupel..............11.64 pounds.
9th place Keri May.........................9.46 pounds.
10th place Rocky JR.......................8.67 pounds.
11th place Rocky SR......................7.40 pounds.
12th place Mike Burdette................5.69 pounds.
13th place Larry Sullivan................5.46 pounds.
14th place Phil Hudgens.................5.45 pounds.
15th place Karl Kramer..................3.42 pounds.
16th place Mike Bruce....................3.30 pounds.
17th Jose Gomez-Elligido................2.51 pounds.
18th place Brian Hudgens...............2.17 pounds.
We also decided our Angler Of The Year and he has been Mr. Consistent all Year.....Mark Brown is the 2013 Western Bass Club Angler Of The Year!!!!

Looks like it was a tough tourney.  Great job Troy for winning the tournament and Mark for AOY!

Tough would be an understatement!  I had nearly 13lbs on sat alone.  Mark also had over 12lbs and kirk and brian had 10+lbs.  I culled out two limits saturday working my way up to my weight.  Sunday however I only had five bites all day and weighed in only 2 fish.  I 100% believed I had blown the tournament and was frustrated after day two.  Too find out that I won was more than shocking...The two baits I used to win were a tube and a swimbait, with the swimbait being responsible for the bulk of the fish.   Oh and to top it off I caught a fish on a topwater sunday morning that had one treble in its gills and it was bleeding pretty bad.  I thought for sure that fish would die, but it bounced back during the day and that 4oz penalty that never happened ended up making the difference  Cool

A big congrats to Mark Brown for winning the AOY.  It was only a matter of time before he won one

This was my first time fishing Banks Lake and even though it was a tough bite on Sunday it was a good learning experience. Troy congratulations on the win and big fish.

Mark, thanks for allowing me to back seat and gain some knowledge on a new body of water. Likewise congratulations on winning AOY!!!!

I echo Troy's comments.  Tough fishing for day two is an understatement.  I thought I was in position after day one to win (I was around 2 oz behind Troy).  I too was frustrated and thought I completely blew it on Sunday.  I was surprised that I even placed in the top 3 after a really poor day 2.

I culled many 2lb fish on Saturday that I wish I had in the livewell on Sunday.... funny how that happens.

Angler of the year - really cool to win this year.  Western rocks!

It was fun fishing with you this weekend Ernest.

Congrats on a well-deserved Win Troy!

Mark
