Was a great tournament, good and plenty of food at the potluck. Here are the pictures of the top finishers, I'll let Terry post the weights. There was even some after hours activity, on the lake at the camp grounds. I have a couple of pics of that too and others have more I'm sure they will post  Wink

This tournament was an excellent lesson on humility and patience.    Undecided  On Saturday, the weather was very warm and calm...virtually no wind blowing all day.   Cool Cool The smallies were cruising all over the place.   There were many times throughout the day where my partner and new WBC member -Jerry Beatty would come upon an area to fish and see "big" smallmouth cruising all over the place....shallow or deep-they were there.    You couldn't help but get excited to see so many fish.   The biggest problem however for me was getting them to bite.

I applaud all of the people who figured out this puzzle because I certainly didn't on the first day. I tried topwaters, reaction baits- (spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and rattle traps), dropshots, jigs (grubs and tubes) and carolina rigs with no success.  I certainly however didn't have a problem catching non tournament fish- a 5lb trout,, 3 pikeminnow- ( 2 on topwater) and a small kokanee but bass were elusive.  I did finally get myself to slooooooow really down and start deadsticking a senko the last hour of the day.  I ended up scratching out a 2.7 smallie but it was simply too little too late.  The conditions completely changed on Sunday where it was overcast and windy which eliminated much of the sight fishing.

I think what was the most interesting and revealing to me was what Mark Brown said after the tournament on explaining his winning pattern to everyone.  Mark really went to great lengths to discuss the levels of Stealth on catching his fish...hopefully he can share this information at a future club meeting. Great job Mark Brown-Green (inside joke)

I would also like to congratulate the Beeman's for going 2nd and 5th out of the same boat...very impressive.   One more important detail you all should know is that Rocky Sr. ended up winning the AOY race!  He really deserved it especially after not being able to fish almost the entire month of August....Great job Rocky!

Thanks Terry for another smoothly run tournament...well done sir!  Wink

Good luck to everyone this weeekend at Lake WA for the team tournament.

Here's my report.  Last time I been to Chelan was during the 07 windstorm and my memory of that tourny is pretty hazy.  If I did GPS anything it was on a unit that went bad and I had nothing saved.  I was able to pre-fish so I spent about 5 hrs out there friday.  I found some decent areas, saw some fish, and caught two fish, one was around 1.5 and the other was in the 3lb range when I tryed to hand line him in on 6lb test- pre-fish breakoff no big deal.  They both tagged a sand sniper snub, the smaller fish directly under the boat so I figured oh man this is easy.
Weather was sunny and calm winds friday and saturday.
Day 1- I started to fish my areas, my early morning stop was stupid  Grin  I did get one fish near a dock with a spinnerbait, .82 lbs   Undecided  I fished the rest of the day like I did in practice.  I caught a nice 3-4lb Rainbow, and a smaller trout.  The bass were not hitting for me.  I was without a doubt fishing too close, cause I was seeing good fish.  I was trying to parallel the weedlines too which was no good I think.  1 fish for .82 total
Day 2- You could tell the clouds were moving in, the 3am WIND, thunder and lightning storm was pretty serious.  Wind was not bad in the morning.  The cloud cover without a doubt helped me, plus the fact that I stayed a lot farther back.  My morning spot paid off with a swimbait fish at 4.54 lbs at 6:50, big fish of the tourny up until that point  ( Paysno you the man !  Cheesy )  I double backed and got a 1.5 on a drop shot.  My swimbait fish was on a RBT pattern so I started throwing a roboworm for the first time of the weekend, Aaron's magic.  I stopped by Wapato point to mess around, saw the Beeman's again  Wink  I then took off to one of my other spots, and they were biting !  Not a ton of fish, but the right fish I guess you'd say.  4 smallies, and then a squawfish to ruin my mojo.  I culled a 1-6 to make my smallest fish a 1-9 I think.  I was done catching right before 10, could not find anymore.
A little over 12 lbs for Day 2

Friday night I turned $40 into $108 at the casino so I was hoping my luck would stay good for saturday, but nope   Grin
