How cold is the water and how Deep? I would expect they wouldnt go extremely deep in that lake due to having to compete with the HUGE TROUT that are in that lake.

Water temp was 47* and while we started out in 35ft.  we ran over a hump that came up to 20ft and pow! he must have been lost to be that shallow this time of year it's  kind of mind blowing! (we did get bites in between 30-45ft. though.)

Lost to be that shallow? Huh Smallies will come up to less than 5 feet when water temps are in the 40's to come up to feed. Have witnessed this many times in certain bodies of water during tournament time-hint, hint. Wink Wink

I went out last weekend to a little ol lake.  Caught a 2.3 SM in 50 foot.  Went to my LM spot and ran across 5-6 LM's in less than 4 feet of water, when I came barging up I spooked them.  Wow what a sight to see in December, they were up soaking up the sun, all over 3 lbs.

They, the small mouth bass in the 15 1/2 inch range, where co-operative today.  One on drop shot and one on a mojo rig.  Feels good to catch the first ones of the year.

Caught a 2.2 lb smallmouth bass on a dropshot in 15 feet of water today. Was a very light bite.
