5 BEST BAITS

Okay....the days are officially getting longer and it is time to see what 5 baits...if given the option would you have tied on for these times....

1). Silver in April.

2). Potholes in May.

3). Lower Columbia in September.

My selections are....

1). Silver for me is frustrating with the storms of Spring and my inabilty to calm myself after a long winter...I have a tendency to change up frequently due to lacking confidence...so here goes...
Rod 1....Senko on a flipping stick, Braided line.
Rod 2....Brush Hog on on a flipping stick, Braided.
Rod 3....White Spinnerbait.
Rod 4....7' rod with a 1/4 oz jig 12 lb mono.
Rod 5....Senko on a spinning rod 8 lb test.
I.....after the last two years there...am a big believer in Dipping Dyes in Chartreuse and Orange too!

Potholes is fantastic! the choice of Smally bite or Largemouth bite is awesome and lessens the "Zero" factor that holds us back on some lakes.
Rod 1....Senko..spinning rod 8lb line, weightless.
Rod 2....Texas Rigged 4-1/2" Lizard, Pegged weight.
Rod 3....3/8 oz spinnerbait..orange/silver shad.
Rod 4....Carolina Rig...senko or lizard.
Rod 5....Drop Shot..Robo Worm.

Lower Columbia is gonna be interesting as we are dealing with tidal influence and river currents and traffic..took 3rd. several years ago but only caught fish on one of two days...so for the feast or famine approach.....
Rod 1....1/2 oz Spinnerbait white and white/chart.
Rod 2....Silver/Black Rapala Husky Jerk.
Rod 3....Texas Rigged Grub.
Rod 4....Carolina Rigged Lizard.
Rod 5....Drop Shot Wacky Senko/Robo Worm.
Hope this helps some folks and I look forward to what you folks have!

Larry,

Here goes:

Silver
1) 1/2 oz Pig/Jig on 7'- 6" flippin stick.
2) Senko need I say more
3) Brush Hog-Pitching
4) Jerk bait-
5) Spinner Bait

On Silver I pretty much would use flippng stick only.

Potholes- My personal favorite

1) Jig/Pig- 3/4 oz Blk/Blue on same as above with 25lb flourocarbon
2) Senkbo Rod- with 5" Senko's any color
If largie bite off- yeah right is it ever off?? then I would go with-
3) Crankbait- shallow runner kicks bass-ask Payseno he knows how much weight I have taken with one particular color.
4+5 why bother all I need is above.

Lower Columbia- no comment I'm not going to be there.
Larry good post. I'm going sturr crazy myself.

Hmmm. Very interesting, Mr. Sullivan. Anyone who has ever fished with me won't find any of these choices a surprise:

Silver in April:
1) Green pumpkin brush hog rigged Ex-Prez style
2) Texas-rigged brush hog in green pumpkin
3) Camoflauge bitsy bug with double-tail grub trailer in #176
4) Internally weighted tube in smoke/pepper/gold flake
5) Texas-rigged weightless 4" senko in #150

Potholes in May:
1) Texas-rigged green pumpkin brush hog (25 or 30 lb. mono... umm, for the sharp, Goose Island rocks - yeah - Goose Island, that's the ticket!)
2) 1/4 oz. speed trap in red craw
3) Camoflauge bitsy bug with double-tail grub trailer in #176
4) Texas-rigged weightless 5" senko in whatever color I can grab fastest
5) Split shot rigged baby brush hog in green pumpkin (for when Kirk lets me go smallmouth fishing)
6) Push pole

Lower Columbia in September:

Ok. I don't have a clue here, so take these with a grain of salt, because they're sooooo different from the stuff above.

1) 1/4 oz. speed trap in red craw (sentimental favorite)
2) Heavy drop shot with a green pumpkin tiny brush hog
3) 1/2 oz. football head with a 4" double tail grub in any ol' dark color
4) 1/8 oz. texas rigged smallie beaver in green pumpkin
5) Texas-rigged weightless 5" senko in any ol' dark color

Man, I never knew I was so boring with bait selections. Jeez Larry, you could have thrown Banks in June on the list, then I switch up to a cotton candy brush hog. It's craaaaazy!!!  Shocked

It will be interesting to see what everyone else chooses!

What the heck is this Double Wide thingy you people keep talking about. It sounds like a total waste of plastic.
