Special Events

Hey everyone, it's February. That means we have a little over a month to sell those raffle tickets. Of the 2000 tickets available, we have approximately half still in the box. There is still plenty of time to sell a few more books. Thanks to those of you who have already sold tickets, keep up the good work. While I'm thanking people, I would like to thank all of you who volunteered at the Puyallup Sportsmen Show. We had a great time talking to a lot of different people about fishing. If the number of interested people who stopped by our booth is any indication, February's meeting should be standing room only. On top of that we were able to sell over 250 raffle tickets, due mostly to the crew on Saturday. I wanted to remind everyone that in addition to the raffle drawing, there will also be a drawing for a rod and reel combo going to one lucky person that sells a complete book of tickets. For every book (20 tickets) sold, your name goes into a drawing for the rod. This drawing will also occur at March's general membership meeting.

Since this is my first term as Special Events coordinator, I have a basic understanding of the existing events in which we, as a club, participate. I would like to extend an opportunity to anyone who would like to research and submit ideas/proposals of other events or programs they would like to see our club participate in.

While I'm on the subject of special events, it's never too early to start planning for our next event: Fishing Kids. It will be June 7th at Gene Coulon Park on the southeast corner of Lake Washington. For those of you who haven't had the chance to help out before, this is a great time and way to treat yourself to the joy that comes from watching kids catch fish (many of them their first). Never will you see "slimers" create as many smiles, except for maybe at the Walker's residence. I will have additional updates as the event gets closer.

Until next month, keep those batteries charged and tanks topped off.
